Can anyone suggest a good area / hotel to stay in in Brussels? |
Travel Info Going for a mid-week break. Want somewhere likely but not seedy, dingy or rough. Prepared to walk distances to see sights during the day but in the evening we want a good middle of the road hotel that is close to a selection of restaurants and bars. Like Jazz, Blues music. We are in 40s and 50s. Interested in knowing if theres anywhere we should definitely avoid too. Thanks Travel Tips I visit Brussels for work every two weeks. If I can get in I always opt for the Welcome hotel, http://www.hotelwelcome.com/ It is a fairly small place where each room is named after a country or place - e.g Congo, Tibet, Marrakesh or Silk Road - and decorated accordingly with genuine artifacts. It is a charming 3 star place run by friendly staff who will help you with restaurant bookings and offer advice on all aspects of your trip. It is located in the St Catherine district, 100 yards from the metro with a wide range of restaurants and bars within a short distance and the Grand Place just 10 minutes stroll away. Have a good stay Others I didnt see any good areas in Brussels but we stayed at the ibis hotel its a chain (similar to holiday inn express) it was nice and very reasonable. Check this out: Le Chatelain All Suite Hotel http://www.ghotw.com/shotw/list/city/hom... You cannot go wrong with the IBIS hotel Hotel Melia on Rue Blanche. It is a three minute walk from Ave Louise metro station and a very pleasant middle of the road establishment close to everything. There is also an excellent Lebanese restaurnat a few doors down and a number of good Italian restaurants nearby (ask at the desk). |
