Travel Info Any suggestions for what to do on a one-day visit to Brussels, Belgium? Travel Tips Go to the flea market at" Vossenplein" very big bric a brac market. There is at the corner a cafe "chez Marcel" where you can eat snacks and very good old fashion soup & drink the real Gueze beer. The other places on the grote market are 2-3 times as much in price, yes beautiful but it's a rip off. Restaurants are good but expensive (rue du bouchers), buy chocolats at Providas (not Leonidas =not real chocolate!), Godiva is expensive. Go to Nieuw straat(rue Neuve) for shopping of fashion, La toison d'or is expensive but you find Chanel etc there.. Best buy a 1 day travelcard for the tube station it will save you time & money. Source(s): I know Brussels. Other Travel Tips Go to the Grand Place! It has beautiful baroque architecture and is absolutely stunning. The buildings are so ornamented, they're almost a little gaudy. They are quite impressive though. The Royal Museum of Fine Arts is also supposed to be fantastic (I've never been there, but I've heard wonderful things about it). I've included a Wikipedia page that has a whole section on interesting places. I suggest you take a look at it. Enjoy your stay! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/brussels%2c... go eat mussels at chez leon. Drink lots of chimay bleu. There are two answers to this question: short one and long one. Short answer: walk! Brussels is somehow small you can see a lot by walking. Long answer: Walk! ;-> start from any place in inner circle you wish and have a map in hand. There are some monuments, museums, churches and other historical buildings in this inner circle. You can find a bunch of historic building in and around Grand Palace. Besides it is full of caf茅's and restaurants so you can eat or rest whenever you wish. If you are interested in shopping, there are some shopping centers too: Don't forget the rue neuve. Have a nice trip! Brussels is so rich in tourist attractions that one day is just too short. You could start at the Grand Plaas or Grand Place and move on to the Cartoon Museum nearby. Next, the Manequin Pis- the fabled statue of the small, black boy peeing and the Atomium- a unweildy, modern day monument. The European Central Bank and NATO have their HQs in Brussels and you could pass by them, just for a look or photo, where possible. Try visiting the chocolate factories of Brussels. One word of caution: Brussels, sadly, has a reputation among foreign tourists for being notorious for crime. Tourists can get robbed or pick-pocketed at most major tourist attractions. ALWAYS ensure that your passport, cash, credit cards, air ticket and other personal belongings are well secured and never leave any baggage unattended even in crowded places. Take extra care when performing cash transactions at ATMs, exchange houses or banks and while traveling in buses or local trains. Dont carry more baggage than you can handle without leaving it unattended, during your sightseeing. |
