I am planning to be in Belgium for 3 full days (during the 1st w/end of June). Pl. suggest an ideal itinerary. |
Travel Info I will be reaching Brussels by bus and my return journey is also from Brussels. I would like to see Brussels (1 days?) and Bruges (2 days?). Request you to make suggestions on an ideal itinerary. Any information on transport (between Brussels and Bruges) will also be appreciated. In what areas of Brussels (1 night?) and Bruges (2 nights?) should I look for when I am booking my accomodation ? Also, request you to give me a list of places worth visiting (and a to-do list !) in these cities. I am interested in architecture, canals and beer ! Not much in museums. Thanks a lot... Travel Tips First of all, a link to the traincompany, here you can see when there are trains and how long it will take you to go from one city to the other. Also take a look at the "B-excursions", you can learn a lot of that.... So day one in Brussels : you like architecture... go take a look at the grote Markt , Manneke pis, het Atomium and the museum of Victor Horta (art nouveau). Link n掳2 is about Brussels, sorry that it's only in Flemish... About Brugge, a very nice town but as some one before me already said, you'll get through it in a day... Nice alternative for day 3 is indeed Antwerpen but also Gent... Look at link n掳3... If you like beers, be sure to try and explain the waiter what kind of beer you'd like...there are more than 100 different ones, take a look at link 4... Be sure to eat "frieten" our national food (frensh fries or chips) I hope you have a nice stay in Belgium! About you additional question... I'd stay the first night in Brussels, then go to Bruges and from Bruges on to Ghent/Antwerp... Although it's probably cheaper when you stay in the same hotel and you don't have to carry around your suitcases, but then you don't have a taste of the nightlife in the other cities... It depends really on what you are planning to do... If you only like to see the cities and just go out to dinner at night, maybe have one drink and then go to sleep, maybe it's best to stay in a hotel in Brussels... The trains are easy... be sure you stay in a hotel near Brussels Central or South... Brussels Nord isn't save at night since there are only office buildings there so after everyone has gone home, it's not that save... Other Travel Tips Don't miss the altarpiece at St. Bavo's in Ghent, by Hubert and Jan van Eyck, 1432. This is one of the masterpieces of European art. hello this is your Turkish buddy on your tail.First don t worry about the beer.you ll find a lot of differnt but be sure to try Leffe blond, brown.Bottle Jupiler with a cold sandwich. Brussels to Brugge by train .trains are confortable and fast. 陌 can not recommend too much of Brugge but try the youth hostels if you re not older than 35 both in Brussels and in Brugge.if you really want a hotel Try Tulip 陌nn on the same block with Sheraton.陌 think you could find a single room to 60 box.陌n Brussels Grand Place is worth to see.Architecture is great and there is a beer museum.where you ll be offered a glass of beer in a traditional athmosphere.have a nice trip and have fun. If you go to Brugge then 1 day over there is more then enough do a canal trip with a boat-guide, don't forget to visit the Holy Blood church(they keep there the blood of Jesus in a shrine). Go for the other day to Antwerp we have the most beers here up town in the world!I recommend for that the pub" Paeters vaetje" near the Cathedral, tipical very old cafe where they serve a few hunderd beers.Your intrested in architecture, well this Cathedrale covers several streets, you have to see it, it's worth it. I'm living here in Belgium. The best : 1. BRUSSELS (grand place) 2. ANTWERP (city center) Good restaurants! 3. BRUGGE (Venice of the north) |
