I live in germany? |
Travel Info Mu hubby and I are stationed in germany and we only have official passports not travelers passports, we are plaaning a trip to belgium and want to know if we can just use our official ones or if we need to get another one Travel Tips If your are in the army, you just need permission from your unit and hop on the train or take the car and go, if I can recommend you go to Antwerp, Brugge, Brussels and this wil be a nice trip and a beautifull way to discover the land of Chocolate and Fries (they are not french). have a nice trip! Others There are no passport controls between Germany and Belgium. If you can travel around in Germany, you can cross into Belgium. You need some form of official ID but a military passport or even a UK Photocard Driving Licence will do. It all depends on where you are from. If you are European then you have no problems to travel around. If you are from the US or Canada - and other non-European countries you will need to look at the conditions fr entry to Germany. There are definately no Passport controls within the European Union anyway - once you are in - you are in!! The borders are open between Germany and Belgium, via The Netherlands, France or whichever route you choose to travel. Hop on a train or drive, you won't be checked, as mainland Europe - unlike travelling from the UK - has an open border policy. Take your 'offical passport' id with you, as you may need this for ID, if you're buying stuff (via credit cards) or when checking-in at hotels etc. Good luck! Rob Your official passport should be all that you need, it is a legal travel document. There are no border controls but it is always a good idea to have proper legal documentation with you. Enjoy the great Belgian beers while you are there. |
