Daughter going to Brussels alone for 6 weeks, help? |
Travel Info Help, my 21 year old daughter is going to Brussels for a program with her college. Can anyone or everyone offer tips I can give her? Customs, places to go for her age, any other advise would be helpful. Thank you for your input. Travel Tips She is old enough to take care of herself. You shouldn't worry but I'm enclosing some sites for general info. Maybe they will help her to get around easier. http://www.tripadvisor.com/tourism-g1886... http://www.viator.com/brussels-tours/d45... http://www.brusselscitytourist.info/brus... http://www.10best.com/brussels/index.htm... Others well if i were you i say no because she will get up to no good and all the men around her she will be having sex and getting pissed and doing all the naughty stuff so say no internet Visit ANTWERP !!!!! She should take advantage of any organized tours or any offers to take her to visit someplace. Antwerp, Brugge, Ghent, and the North Sea are worth day trips. Belgians, God bless them, have been invaded by so many people that they don't open up very quickly to 'transients': it's going to be difficult in 6 weeks to 'get to know the locals'. Unfortunately she needs to be careful about people begging for money on the streets, at train stations, etc. Not dangerous, but very cleverly organized. Does she like chocolate? If she goes to the Grand Place, she should go down the side street that leads to the Mannekin Pis; there are some excellent truffle shops. whatever, don't speak French in Flanders! Speak English, even if she's in Belgium to learn French. Well it depends from which country you come from, is it USA then she will need a visa, from Europe you don't need that, if the country is in the Euro circle. Brussels, don't worry to much, I hope your daughter have some friends at the college, better then staying alone. The best advice I can give your daughter is : never leave drinks unattended in disco/clubs but yes that's all over the world. I would recommend for shopping:the Rue Neuve-Nieuwstraat and a very big flea market at vossenplein. Best she buy a travel card for the tube (tube is cheaper here then in London) easy a she can see whole Brussels without too much worries. If she does here own catering on a apartment good supermarkets are: GB, carrefour, delhaize, match and cheapest of them all aldi. Hope this helps and wishing your daughter a good and safe trip. I know Brussels and I'm living here in Belgium. |
