Where in Berlin can I drop in on people playing German board games? |
Travel Info I'm talking about the relatively new "family strategy games" such as Puerto Rico, Caylus, and Carcassonne. Please only reply if you can give details about a specific place. Thank you. Travel Tips Here are some people who may know: http://www2.herne.de/spielezentrum/spz-e... And here is the dedicated German site: http://www.carcassonne.de/ These people may be able to help too: Serious Games Bundesallee 83, 12161 Berlin Phone +49-30-85962903 And this chap seems to know everyone who plays games in Germany, so email him the question to his blog: http://www.boardgamenews.com/index.php/b... Source(s): Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, hope these turn up something. Other Travel Tips Alot of games are not allowed in Germany. Well, you can't just stroll in to some Germans' houses and go, "Hey, I'm gonna just watch you play some board games, OK?" Just sayin'. Your question doesn't seem like it can be done.... Well, new family strategy games is a little more complicated than "life-sized chess" which is available in parks just like in other areas of the world... There may be some youth centers where people meet and have board games, but usually not the newest ones... Best strategy : drop in a Berliner Biergarten ("beer garden" = outdoor cafe/bar/restaurant), like "Cafe am Neuen See" or others and make some German friends... see if they are into board games... :) ... or maybe you can find fans of some strategy board games online - email them and see if they are in Berlin to meet... |
