Going to Bermuda for my birthday? |
Travel Info As well as for the Music Festival. How does one get from the Royal Dock (where the Festival is being held) at night to other parts of the island? Do the buses run to all parts of the island all night? We're probably staying at 9 Beaches in Sandys. Travel Tips The Royal Naval Dockyard is @ the northernmost tip of the Island on the west side. Very close to The 9 Beaches. A Cab wont cost much if you can get one. For exploring the rest of the island or if you can't get a cab, you can take the #7 or #8 bus back to the hotel. Just tell the driver you want The 9 Beaches, and they will let you know where to get off. Everyone is very friendly here and there is virtually no crime, homelesness, or unemployment. Hamilton is the central terminal for almost every bus, and the big city here. I believe #7 Southroad is the more scenic ride to Hamilton. The latest departure from Dockyard is the #8 @ 11:50pm Monday thru Sat and 6:35pm Sundays and holidays. The Bermuda Transportation Board is available @ (441)292-3851. From Dockyard you may also Take the Ferry Blue route scenic, or express back to Hamilton, or the Orange route to St Georges (where I stay) and St Davids. This is a beautiful trip, the schedules for the Sea Express are available @ .www.seaexpress.bm The ferrys don't run nearly as late as the busses. You can buy a 7 day pass to ride all the buses and ferrys for the low price of 22.50. Some Hotels sell tokens as well but the week pass is the best deal as a 2 zone trip can cost $5. You can also rent scooters, they are around $50. a day, and can be fun too. However, they can be dangerous for North Americans as we drive on the left here, and the roads are very narrow and curvey. (Especially on your birthday if you have been celebrating) Whatever you decide, Be Carefull! Have a great time, and don't forget to buy a Rum Swizzle Cake @ the factory in Dockyard. Yum:) Source(s): I live here Other Travel Tips There should be buses and taxis available 24hrs. I would go with a taxi. Taxi rates are controlled by law, with the first mile charged at $4.80 and $1.68 for each additional mile. A surcharge may be added for additional passengers, after midnight hours, Sundays and holidays. http://www.bermuda.com/transportation... Public transportation in Bermuda is very good! They have buses and ferries. You can get a brochure with the schedules at the hotel and most touristic places. Whenever they have special events like the music festival, they have special buss scheduling to accommodate people even better. Taxis are also good. |
