Traveling to Hammilton from the furthest Paris during peak congestion can take upwards of 30 to 40 minutes. However, there are ways to cut down the times monotny by varing your mode of transport. The ferrys can take you from Hammilton to Dockyard in less than 5 minutes, and you may also take your scooter on that ferry only. You may also ferry to St Georges (the other side of the island in 15 minutes. Ferry transport is included in your monthly or quartly bus pass fare ($165/quarter). Parking is VERY limmited in Hammilton so do not assume you will have a place to park a car, and most spots are limited to 2 hr parking. Also housholds are limited to 1 car per assessment # (each house or legal apt gets only 1 assessment #) so keep in mind if you have another family member this will also be a limiting factor. Another consideration will be the causeway which connects St Davids & St Georges to the rest of the island. When winds reach gale force as the often do it closes. If you need to get home on the other side you will be stuck, which can be stressfull. Others Depends on how you are traveling - bus, car, or moped - and depends on whick parish you are traveling from - if you take the bus, it can take as long as an hour if you are coming from St. George or Dockyard. If you are traveling by car, it would probably be about half that time; by moped, even less (you can pass lots of stopped cars on a moped). |
