Travel Tips
Bermuda is very rich and there are areas that are posh. Lots of rich folks like Ross Perot, Michael Douglas, NYC Mayor Bloomberg all have homes there. But the super posh section is very secluded and gated, and you will not in all likelihood be able to access it. Nor would you really want to. I've been up there once, and there really is not a lot to see.

It is pretty safe, compared to islands in the Caribbean. Just be aware of your surroundings, and don't let your guard down. Crime, while rare, is picking up, and it is mostly purse-snatching, pickpocketing, etc.

The drinking age is 18 - WOO HOO!! There is not a lot of nightlife. Best bet is probably Docksider's on Front Street in Hamilton, or Swizzle Inn in Bailey's Bay. If you're taking a cruise, your ship will probably dock at Front Street for at least a day or two, and Docksider's is within a block of where your ship will be. If you're not on a ship, you will want to take a cab wherever you go, because the bus service scales back considerably after 9:00pm. Do not attempt mopeds at night, and do not go to the Dockyard area at night (you might hear about Club Malabar at Dockyard, but DO NOT GO THERE). It's perfectly fine during the day, but all of the major crimes that I have read about somehow relate to that club.

By the way, Crystal Caves really is not all that fabulous. Maybe go if it's a rainy day. But you can go to the Grotto Bay hotel right down the street and look at their caves (and even swim in one of them) for free, versus paying $$ for Crystal Caves.

If you're about beaches, try Warwick Long Bay. Skip Horseshoe, unless you want to have a beach with snack stands, bathhouses, etc. Horseshoe is overcrowded and overrated. Warwick Long Bay is much prettier.

Have fun and enjoy your trip to my favorite place in the world. Source(s): experience
