Why is Bermuda listed in the Caribbean islands?

Travel Tips
The short answer is - technically it should not be listed as a Caribbean Island. Bermuda is well north of the Caribbean lying approximately 600 miles East of North Carolina. The weather is not tropical but sub-tropical. It is quite warm from May until early October but then it is cool and rainy for much of the remainder of the year.

Among scholars, 鈥渢he Caribbean鈥?is a socio-historical category, commonly referring to a cultural zone characterised by the legacy of slavery and the plantation system. It embraces the islands and parts of the adjoining mainland鈥攁nd may be extended to include the Caribbean Diaspora overseas.

Lastly, as in myt own family, many of the Black people of Bermuda can trace part of their ancestry to great-grandparents who migrated there from St. Kitts & Nevis (which are in the Eastern Caribbean) early in the 20th century. So, while Bermuda is not georaphically in the Caribbean, in many ways it is Caribbean in its' spirit. You will see evidence of this in many of the cultural traditions on the island. Other Travel Tips
Technically The Bahamas, Bermuda and the Turks & Caicos Islands are considered in the Atlantic. Then from there it's Northern, Eastern and Southern Caribbean.

Many say it is the Caribbean, which is fine as it kind of is.

because there's no good place else to list it.....even though it's 600 miles north of the Caribbean, off the coast of North Carolina, the Gulf Stream keeps it sorta warm in winter , making it a sorta-semi-tropical island; geographically and politically its not in the Bahamas....which aren't in the Caribbean either......not part of the Turks and Caicos, as was said, or the Caymans..so for lack of anywhere else its lumped into "the Caribbean" as a general listing.
