Are their really Glass Beaches?

I was speaking with a friend recently about traveling to Bermuda. The topic got around to beaches. While I love relaxing on them, I also enjoy exploring. She mentioned there were Glass Beaches in Bermuda, and quite frankly, I have never heard of such a thing. Hawaii also. Does anyone have information on where I could find more information?

You bet there are. My friend and I have sampled a couple in Bermuda, Hawaii, Barbados and each is very special. Some of the glass --- buffed by sand and surf, is spectacular.

It's funny, there are bracelets made from some of the glass, as it can be very beautiful.

Well seeing as glass is a product of sand I see this as being quite plausible.

Beach Glass is real in that it exists but it is not a "Naturally occurring" item.

They are pieces of discarded manufactured glass (like bottles and jars) that has made its way to the ocean. The action of the surf tumbles and breaks it into pieces then smooths the rough edges and scratches the surface making it appear 'frosted'.

Although they are pretty and cool to find they are not miraculous.

They are not miraculous, that's for sure, and it does come from broken glass that makes its way from the ocean to the shore. Also agree with the person who gave the web siting for a story about the glass. It's sort of a quest to find it, and a lot of fun!
