Traveling around the island?

Travel Info
We're going on our honeymoon on a cruise to Bermuda, onto the St. George part, and was wondering how easy it is to travel to other parts of the island, and how far nice places are away from each other there. The cruise is only there for 3 or 4 days, and we'd like to make the most out of each day!

Thanks!

Travel Tips
You are in luck, because there is a wonderful transportation system on Bermuda!

You can't get a rental car, and I guess if you adventurous there are scooters...but beware, they drive on the left so if you don't have experience it can be dangerous in traffic. I've had two friends in accidents there.

In any event, the "Pink Bus" system goes all over the island, with, I think, 12 routes. They will get you anywhere in an hour or less. There is also an extensive ferry system, so you can get from Hamilton to Dockyard in 30 minutes.

Here's a link to a site which has a story on Bermuda transportation.

This web site has lots of helpful information. There is also a forum to ask questions, which I have done. They are quick to respond.

Many cruise ships dock a couple days in St. George and a couple days in Hamilton, which makes it nice. St. George is on far eastern side and Hamilton is centrally located.

Have a great trip! It's easy to get around. Source(s): http://www.bermudasecrets.com

Other Travel Tips
Hire a local to guide you is your best bet. Have fun, be safe.
You will have plenty of time to see the island. It is very small and you can get from one end to the other in an hour or so. You can rent a moped if you wish. Drive on the left side of the road. Otherwise, use taxis. You cannot rent cars.
The bus system is great, and there are ferry boats which can whisk you to certain points too.
Don't be too afraid of the scooters, hubby and I go almost every year for a week and we ride them everywhere - to me, it's the best way to see Bermuda the way you want to see it. Never had an accident or a close call, just be alert.
You're bets bet is to buy a three day bus pass for about $20. They travel all over the island. Taxis charge $10 for each ride.

I've been there three times, I can't wait to go back. Make sure to check out all the shops in Hamilton and St. George.
