Can a US permanent resident (greencard holder) travel to Switzerland with a Schengen visa?

Travel Info
Passport is from Belarus

Travel Tips
According to this information from Swiss embassy's web site, you do not need even Schengen visa. All you need is your Green Card.. I just called my friends from Switzerland and they also confirmed that their friends from US with GC travel easily without visa. If you are going to stay more than 90 days, then You may need visa.

Vist this link from Swiss embassy.

U.S. Green Card Holders:

No visa is required for foreigners who have a valid U.S. green card (Permanent Resident Card, form I-551) and a valid national passport for tourism, visits, business or medical treatment for a stay up to 90 days. Both documents (passport and green card) must be valid at least three months after leaving Swiss territory.
Please note that the passport stamp "processed for I-551" is not considered a green card and that general visa requirements would apply in that case. The same rule also applies for the "Notice of Action" (Form I-751) and the "Authorization for Parole" (Form I-512).

Visa requirements for Refugees holding a blue Refugee Travel Document or a new green BCIS-issued "Refugee Travel Document" (Form I-571):

A visa is required in all circumstances (tourism, visit, business, transit through an airport, work, study). This rule also applies to Green Card Holders.

Please note: Switzerland does not accept and recognize the white "Permit to Reenter the United States" or the new green BCIS-issued "Permit to Reenter" (Form I-327). Source(s): Swiss Embassy and Yahoo search.

Other Travel Tips
You need to contact a Swiss consulate in the U.S. to see if it's allowed. The Swiss border is pretty strict.
