Travel Tips
have also a look in the previous q&a about zurich and switzerland. it depends what you want out of your stay. i cannot agree with the previous answer. basically it is all up to you. i lived in germany, russia and the uk and now moved back to switzerland again. public transport is great, the cultural offers are fine too, skiing areas are not far, flats are expensive though, you are about 5 hours by train from munich, vienna 7 hours (i love trains), italy isn't far. etc.etc.

earthman is not quite correct: only to the bernese alps, but there are lots of other mountains (wallis alps, grisons etc.) so accordingly they have different starting points. Source(s): experience and my brain

Other Travel Tips
Scenic. Boring. Fettered.

Zurich is a busy city. A lot of tourists and a lot of beautiful building. I would prefer to live in Interlaken as I like countryside. Also, most of the trains to the mountains/alps start from Interlaken!
