I was there last year, admittedly I haven't been to that many places in England, but I wasn't too impressed with Birmingham. Good curry though!
Birmingham is not the cesspool of england, that honor goes to a town called Bedworth! birmingham is a close second though!

Not at all really.

If you regularly travel up the M6 from the south east towards Manchester you might be forgiven for thinking that as it's non too scenic.

Also don't take everything that comedians say about the place at face value, particularly if they are from London or Manchester.
