Travel Tips
You are gonna love boston -- but it will be a culture shock so just be ready to make some changes and have some patience

Boston is a very diverse city with many different areas of the city having very different levels of safety-for the most part you're good as long as you're not stupid and in some dark alley at 2 in the morning-

Its a walking city- do not even think about a car...ever....i mean it...

the T (public transport) will become your second home
--come to learn and love the ins and outs of the system
it may be a bit grubby but you'll come to love it

Make sure you learn about the Sports teams and Irish culture
-buy some Sox and Pats gear- there is no way you won't going to a sox or pats party
Boston would be close to empy if all the massive sports fans and Irish people left

don't you dare wear anything for the Yankees-you could get punched for that if u meet a few drunk sox fans on the T after a loss

don't try to sound like you're from boston- faking an accent or trying to fit in by figuring out how u sound with one....stupid...and useless... unless you're born and bred-u can never get a real one.

Never say Pop....its soda...just plain soda...
And no matter what people tell you, we don't call it a bubbler. only old ppl say that. its a water fountain-

Everyother street is one way

Can't really think of much else

All I can say is that I've been here my whole life and I can't ever imagine growing up anywhere else. Give Boston a chance and you will have the time of your life

los angeles is the most amazing city int he world
No..It is not safer about the same. You have to take public transportation because there is very little parking. They have a subway system that is pretty good.

Boston is FANTASTIC town to go to school in. Trust you'll love it. Good luck.
Boston is a great college city. There is a tremendous amount of colleges and students in a relatively small area compared to LA being very spread out. You can get any were by the subway system. It is as safe as any other major city. The weather will be a shock compared to LA. It is not very sunny. The culture and fellow students will make up for it. Boston is a great place to go to college. I lived there for 10 years and loved it. Wish you the best of luck.
Between the two, I'd by far choose Boston. For scholastic endeavors, there is no better place, and as it is truly a world-class city, you can lose yourself for the whole day in many different places. In regards to safety, there are always those neighborhoods that are not safe, but everyone will guide you away from those areas. Even better is that once you graduate, if you are going tech/biotech/financial, you will find a great job in Boston. I lived there for several years, moved to Kansas City for a girl, and REGRETTED IT EVER SINCE. You have to go down to the theatre district for at least one show with friends, such as Blue Man or Shear Madness...Hit Chinatown for Dim Sum one Sunday...Take sailing lessons on the Charles...*Sniff*
