Wheres fun places to visit in Boston? |
Travel Info Going there in a few week from Ireland!! These places have to be for someone under 21. Also are americans serious about having to be over 21 to drink, in other words will i always get carded? Travel Tips By coincidence many of the fun places in Boston are Irish bars! Yes, unfortunately (and in my judgement counterproductively) in the USA today the 21 year old drinking age is enforced with a vengeance. In Massachusetts every bar and off-sale is plastered with several warning signs detailing the fines and jail time for violations and one is generally carded if one looks 35 or younger. At least Massachusetts allows under-21s into bars and clubs (for food or music or to accompany parents); several of the USA states do not. Others ChANGING LANES which is a poolhouse/bar/bowling alley/club is a great palce to have fun even if you are below 21. You can't just buy a drink..you get carded. Yes, America is serious .... unless the bars/clubs will lose their license. Visit the JFK Library also. Go see a game at Fenway Park. Use the Duck Boat at the Prudential Mall to get a grand tour of Boston. Visit the North End for a great Italian dinner and be sure to see a Red Sox Game. The Boston Science Museum is nice and if you have the chance, walk the Freedom Trail. The New England Aquarium is a little disappointing, but still nice. Eat at any of the Boston Beer Works locations (Lansdowne St., Canal St.) In the North End I recommend L'Osteria and Giacomo's and get a cannoli at Modern Pastry. There are lots of places! Odds are you will always get carded. Things are pretty strict. . . . If by fun places you mean bars, etc. I would say check out Fanueil Hall. Lots of bars, good food, some shops, etc. Head to Lansdowne Street in Kenmore Sq - there's a boatload of clubs and restaurants worth checking out. Some cheesy (Tiki Palace), and lots are fun and sports oriented (Game On, Jillian's). Most except the bars will let you in, but no, you will not be able to drink at these locations if you're under 21. Better yet, if you can, try to get into Fenway Park for a game. Now that's a Boston experience! Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market are touristy, but pretty fun - they're by the waterfront in Boston. |
