I am going out to Boston for the Red Sox v. Tigers series in May. Where is the best hotel to stay at? |
Travel Info I was hoping to find a good hotel out there. Is there any rough places I should look out for, or is the area generally nice? Travel Tips If you can afford to, I would stay at the Hotel Commonwealth. It's a REALLY nice, pretty fancy hotel which is basically right next to the ball park! Eastern Standard restaurant is inside the hotel, with some of the best food in the city, and a great wine list. I think in general the city is great anywhere, but being less than a 5 minute walk from the park, and in the Fenway area is great. There is a train station right outside the hotel, and lots of bars and places to eat and fun around Fenway so you wouldn't need to go far for anything. . . Also close to the park is a Holiday Inn and a Howard Johnson, but obviously neither are anything special, and both a bit further away from the park. Otherwise, try to book anything directly downtown so you can really enjoy the city, and then just take a quick cab or train ride to Fenway! Enjoy! Others How do you define "good"? If your not into paying for the super luxury of the Commonwealth, just down the street (and closer to Fenway Park Stadium) is the Buckminster, an older hotel that is being renovated. Also check nearby B&Bs. The area around Fenway is OK. Lots of students and several clubs. I am happy to say that pretty much 90% of my city Boston/Cambridge is safe for all to visit. Hotelwise, I would call my good friends at Central Reservations---a hotel reservation service that will save you a bunch of calls and they can match you up with whatever price range you have...617.569.3800 been there done that |
