My personal favorite is the Long Beach, half a mile west of famous Craigville Beach, in Centerville. You travel to the end of Long Beach road. Park in 1 of only 20 parking spaces serving about 3 miles of beach. It can't get too crowded, even in the height of the tourist season. It has the warmest salt water (Nantucket Sound), as well as fresh water a few feet away (Centerville River). The area is a tern nesting area, and has lots of shellfish, and beautiful vegetation, and decent fishing in the spring. Fresh water and salt water, and no crowds! What more could you ask for?
