Has anyone been on a whale watch out of cape cod?

Travel Info
Do many people get sick? Does it have a strong odor? Does the boat rock and roll? Is the cost worth the ride?

Travel Tips
Captain John's boats in Plymouth take you out to Stellwagen Bank. Their naturalists are the best. I live on the South Shore, but make sure I have an excuse to take at least one or two parties of guests every year.

Type "whalewatching Massachusetts" onto google.com and you'll see other places where boats leave on Cape Cod.

IMO, Captain John is the best.

P.S. Captain John's boats are large and clean. The staff is very professional. You can sit inside or out. All you will smell is the fresh salt air. I have never seen anyone get sick. FYI: You can bring a picnic lunch with you or they have a snack bar on board.

I live in Mass. and I would never...I can picture the boat capsizing after moby dick slams into it...
Well, i used to go on tons when i was little (been going to the cape my whole life) off provincetown pier....and i got sick once...but i was 6...i mean, i can't tell you if you are going to get sick or not..but if you are nervous, take a dramamine (sp?)before you dock.

there is a fishy smell, but it is a boat out on the ocean.

for the most part, it's worth it...i just love being out on the ocean...sometimes you see more whales, sometimes you see less..

overall it's a fun experience.

I've been on a couple. A few people seemed a bit queasy the last time I went. The strongest odor is the diesel fumes from the engine, to be honest. But I loved it - we saw dolphins, whales (mom and baby at one point!), seals...if you love that kind of thing the cost is worth it. If you're not into it and are prone to being seasick...perhaps look for something else to do.
BeachSaint is right! I was on a CJ boat and I was amazed that I didn't get sea sick. Don't remember the smell being bad at all, and I'm pretty sensitive to smells. It was a fantastic trip, well worth the cost. The town of Plymouth is wonderful to explore, too.
I don't think many people get sick at all. The boats are generally stable. I'm sure kids get sick, but not that often, it's not something you would feel overwhelmed with by any means! And the smell is nothing more than the smell of the ocean, so if that bothers you then it might be a factor. It is well worth the cost, since it is so much fun!
