I need a ride from boston to seattle with in the next two weeks? |
Travel Info I need a ride from boston to seattle with in the next two weeks does anyone have any answers Travel Tips Well, I drove from Montana to Boston a year ago, and all I can say is it'll be long and expensive unless you can afford to fly. If someone happened to be going that way and could give you a ride, they'd expect you to chip in for gas, which (I don't really probably need to tell you) is expensive. Plus, it will take you several days to get there, and you'll need to figure out where you're sleeping at night (which would also cost money unless you're sleeping in the car, or driving straight through). I'd actually recommend the Amtrak. It runs right out of Boston Back Bay station and goes to Seattle. It looks like it would take about 3 days (leaving on Monday, arriving Thursday, for example). They do have sleeper rooms but those add quite a bit of cost (as much as a plane ticket, it looks like), so you'd have to sleep in your seat, but it's probably more spacious than a car seat. If that's what you planned to do with a shared ride, that's no big deal. It would also give you a few free hours in Chicago which is always nice. This option would probably run about the same cost as splitting gas and would probably be more comfortable. Gas or Amtrak will probably cost $200. Greyhound (like another suggested) does go that way and takes just as long, but if you buy your ticket at least a week in advance it would be about $120. If you're looking for a free ride, good luck. Those are hard to come by these days. Others Buy a plane or train ticket. Rent a car. Try posting on craigslist.org and someone might be able to help. I agree with Craigslist. I would check ASAP for plane or train tickets if you don't spot someone, because with gas prices hovering at $3 a gallon and heading up (how scary is that!), I think driving would end up being much more money than the above. Even if you find a ride I would think they would expect you to split the gas, and not sure that would be much cheaper. Also you might check Greyhound buses. I have no clue if they go that far, but they were offering big sales up and down the East coast. Just keep in mind the closer to the date, the more expensive any flight will be. Good luck...hope you find an easy way there! |
