Travel Tips
So glad you asked. There are a few things you should know. As others have said, it is DEFINATELY not your typical 15 miles. It will be virtually impossible to drive from Burlington to Boston without hitting traffic.

BUT that said, I'll pull up a map and familiarize yourself with the main roads. And it's very important to keep in mind where you are going. For example I would assume you will want to visit Harvard Sq (unless this is all business not pleasure). You would want to take Rt 128/95 SOUTH to RT 2 heading towards Cambridge. Even with traffic, unless you hit a major hell I can't see that taking more than 20-30 min.

And actually that brings a great alternative to mind. Where the highway part of Rt. 2 ends there is the Alewife T station which has a massive parking garage. One of the easiest things to do would be to park there, jump on the T. That is the red line. You could hop a few stops to Harvard Sq, or just use this method to go to Park St, which is in the heart of Boston. This might be MUCH easier than hassling with not only the drive in, but then trying to find expensive parking in town. Also, I know the T has several varieties of "Charlie Card" Passes, where you can have unlimited travel for a few days. The more I think about it, the more sense this makes to me, unless you have one destination in Boston.

Also, if you want to explore some lovely MA towns, you are in a great location to head up North to them. But if you are vacationing, I would definately hit 128 and head up to Rockport for a day, and maybe a few other places. Let me know if you want some more info.

And truthfully, although I'm sure the poster meant well, those directions to Boston are the last ones I would take from Burlington. And the ones most likely to land you in traffic. I'd either take Rt 2, and even if not taking the T, keep driving in to Cambridge, then across the Charles River to Boston. Depending where you are going you then could get right on either Storrow Drive or the MA turnpike (90). Or I'd head the same direction on RT. 128 and jump on the MA pike which shoots right into Boston. Even though that would add a few miles, it is far more direct a trip & would be the fastest IMHO if heading into Boston. And definately try to avoid rush hour if possible.

This is a map of the T, so look at the end of the Red line for Alewife so you can see what I mean. And just click the link for the Charlie card to read about that;

Also FYI, Rt 128 and Rt 95 are the same road at certain points, including Burlington. Didn't want you to get confused when you see different road names. If you travel N or S for a bit it splits. This can be very confusing if you don't know it.

And yet one more thought. I agree there are some good places to eat...that's the halfway point where one of my best friend's and I usually meet. I'd suggest the Macaroni Grill, which is directly across from the Mall (yummy Italian, even though it's a chain it's one of the better ones). Then maybe go to the Cheesecake Factory if you have room for dessert. The cheesecake is awesome, the restaurant pretty, the food horrid IMHO lol. Another great place with reasonable prices (yet another chain but again FAR better than most), is Bertucci's. You'd need to get on 128 for a couple of exits, but it's right off the road in Waltham. I'm sure the hotel could direct you. If you have kids there is also a Rainforest Cafe in the Burlington Mall. Kids adore it. Food is ok, but not not as good as the others I mentioned. But if nothing else it's very pretty lolol. But if you head to Alewife as I said, there are some great places there too. Jasper White's Summer Shack is there, which is a great seafood restaurant owned by one of Boston's reknowned chefs.

It takes 20-30min at the most. You can take 128/95 North to 93 South and that will get you there quickly!

Driving from Burlington to Boston on 93 South is usually a "reverse commute" unless there is a Red Sox game.....
I did it in 20 minutes and I used I-95 to MA 2 South to Storrow Dr. to downtown Boston.
Without traffic, 20-30 minutes depending on where you are staying and where in boston you are going. At rushhour, a similar drive takes me about 45 minutes because I am going with the traffic (suburbs to city).
If there is no traffic, it should be around 20 minutes, a nice easy highway ride. However, if it is rush hour, plan on closer to 45. Burlington is a nice city though- there is a big mall there with a few good places to eat: The Cheesecake Factory, Chilis, Legal Seafoods, Rainforest Cafe, etc.
