Score tix to a red sox game, that will take care of most of your budget :-) Seriously, Sox games are a religious experience for fans, and pretty cool for visitors to Boston.

Newbury Street is the place for boutique shopping
Faneuil Hall is touristy, but a lot of fun - cool outdoor cafes and bars abound.

The North End is worth visiting at some point during your visit. High end - try Strega. Moderate - try Ricardo's or Mother Anna's or Rabias. Low end - definitely need to check out Pizzeria Regina's in the North End. Seriously great pizza!

High End dining elsewhere - No. 9 Park, Aujord D'Hui will give you the full fine dining experience.

Lots of great ethnic choices - Lala Rokh, Addis Red Sea, Casa Romero's.

Nightlight - boylston place still has a number of fun bars and clubs to choose from, as does Lansdowne St by Fenway Park.

I suggest you go to Faneuil hall, visit the north End, fenway park, newbury street, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, New england aquarium.
It depends when you're going, see if there are concerts or baseball games or something
shop, shoot hoops, play games, meet people, ride in hydrolic cars, and drive around to see sights and things, i think theres like a dolphin sighting somewhere and a lake, uhmm eat!
go to newbury street and shop alittle. blow a ton on dinner at the capital grill (corner of newbury and mass). then go to one of the 938725982034 bars and get wrecked. then stop by cashiers office at northeastern university and pay my fall tuition.

There is a great walking historic tour that we really enjoyed. The aquarium is quite nice (and ours is among the best - Baltimore). The food and beer are great all over Boston in my experience.
