Honeymooning in MA? |
Travel Info We've decided to honeymoon in the Salem/Boston area (live in CT so we will be driving, no worries about being near an airport or trainstation). We will be going in mid-October (checking in 10/14). Not looking for cheap, but don't want to spend boatloads of money, either. Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice inn or bed and breakfast that is worth the rate? I've looked at several and they are a bit pricey, I just want to make sure I'm spending my money on something that is worth it! Travel Tips Hi! My fiance and I went on vacation last Fall to Boston and Salem. We stayed at the Salem Inn in Salem. What a piece of crap place. Old place, junky furniture, rude staff, never again there. They do have a good location I will give them that. We were there for several days. Really it is too long just to stay in Salem as you can see the better part of the whole place in 1 day. I recommend taking the trolley around and jumping on and off all day at different sites. There is a great bed and breakfast right near the water called the Morning Glory Bed and Breakfast. It is right beside the House of Seven Gables. If you go to tripadvisor.com they have great reviews you can read there. Should we ever go back to Salem, that is where we will stay. Some good places to eat at are the Boston Hot Dog Complany, Salem Beer Works is really cool too. As is the fish place called Finz, nice waterfront restaurant. We took the train, really cheap, into Boston a day for the Red Sox game. I was nice to say we have been to Salem, but it is not all cracked up to be like I thought. I got to see the house where they filmed Hocus Pocus with Bette Midler so that was cool. Good luck! Others Look at Marblehead. http://www.visitmarblehead.com/pages/acc... Why don't you just go to Nantucket. Nice place for honeymoon,...and lots of bed and breakfast houses/hotels. You may want to stay in Marblehead instead, as mentioned above. They have some beautiful B&B's there. The Harbor Light and Lady Winette in particular, are both beautiful! http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/marblehea... Marblehead is only a few miles from Salem, and not too far from Boston, either, if you have a car. Try Rockport, on Cape Ann. Quaint, romantic, surrounded by water. About a half hour drive from Salem; also easy direct train service. I'd highly, highly recommend Rockport as your honeymooning destination. It's a cute little area with a lot of mom and pop shops situated by the water. It's probably in the price range you'll want of not too pricey but not too cheap either. It's very picturesque and easily the kind of area you see in those lighthouse paintings. It's about 40 minutes from Salem and it's out of the way from any kind of metropolis. |
