How safe are Mansfield/Mansfield Depot, Sharon and surrounding towns? |
Travel Info I am considering moving from Rhode Island to Mass, but I don't want to move to the big city, so thinking of moving into an apartment in Mansfield, Mansfield Depot, Sharon, Foxboro or Norwood? Want to know if all of these towns are safe towns to raise a family in? By safe I mean crime rates being low. Travel Tips I grew up in Mansfield and lived there for the first 25 years of my life. I graduated in '99 from Mansfield High School. Its a great town! Very low crime... schools are great! Don't get me wrong, the population has expanded over the last few years and they are in the process of building a big shopping center right off of 495, but all in all I'd say its the perfect place! Others Those are pretty safe areas. Avoid Brockton like the plague, but otherwise it's a good area. It's pretty safe. I've been the only one waiting for the last train back to Boston late at night in Mansfield and not worried. It's quite safe. However, there is a high-security prison close by. I think that actually makes the area safer because if anything does happen to go wrong, all the police are very well trained. Also, it's fun to live in the Foxboro area -- you can get to the Pats and Revs games wicked easily, and it's about a half hour train ride to the city. I would definitely say it's a good place for a family. Very safe area. It is close enough to Boston, not too far from cape cod. Also, there are some good colleges around that area. This is a very nice area to have a family and raise your children. Yes, overall a good area. Good school systems- I have some co-workers who live there and say great things. Good to be close to the city too! Both are pretty safe. Sharon is a town we've been considering to move to. It's very nice with very good school systems. Definitely not big city, but still convenient. It is relatively safe in these towns. Of course you have to lock your door just like you normally would. Mansfield has such a nice little town center. I would go towards that route. Sharon is really nice too but you may find that rents will be slightly more expensive. All of these towns are very safe. They have a low crime rate. Welcome to Mass! |
