Possible to get to Stoughton Ikea via public transit? |
Travel Info I'm in Boston for a couple of days shopping for an apartment, and I'd love to head down to the Stoughton Ikea to look for some furnishings. However, I'm here without a car. Is it possible to make it to the Stoughton Ikea using public transit? If so, how? Travel Tips Even if you got near there, the Ikea is WAAAAYYYYY down a road filled with other stores (ie Christmas Tree shop, Home Depot, etc). It would be a long, unsafe walk and you'd need a pack mule to try to carry anything back lol. Seriously though, if you are looking for furnishings, even if you found a nearby bus, how would you get stuff back? Is there any way you could rent a car for a day? Enterprise usually has some pretty decent rates, and there is good shopping near there. If you have never been to a Christmas Tree Shops, it IS the best store in the entire world, and often you can do better there than Ikea for many things such as lamps. I'm pretty sure most of Ikea is online isn't it? I know it's not the same as going there, but it might be signifcantly easier. Ironically I've yet to go check out that store, because friends have said it is soooo massive and such a maze to only go there if you have tons of extra energy. I've tried a couple times, and each time was too pooped after the christmas tree shop to try it lol. Wish I had a more practical answer you would like, but I really don't think there is one....sorry bout that! The closest combo I can think of is the commuter rail to Brockton, which is right across Rt.24 (maybe 5 miles away, but that is just a guess). If you truly have your heart set on it maybe you could do that and connect with a bus or take a cab from there? But the train stop isn't in a great area truthfully. And do check the link that was posted for the MBTA...there might be a bus I don't know about since thankfully I don't take the T anymore. Ironically when I was still living in Boston and finally got around to getting my license (I didn't for years cause I didn't need it), my first trip after getting it, via a rental car, included that Christmas tree shop! That area is a great destination...hope you make it! Others i don't think so. i live in that area, and i'm pretty sure that the only public transport that goes to stoughton is the commuter rail and that stop is no where near ikea. i'm not sure if any buses go down there, but you can try going to http://mbta.com and try the plan a trip feature. hope that helps |
