Camping...in Boston? |
Travel Info What are some good camping sites in the Boston area? preferably 30 minutes or less out of the city....Thanks Travel Tips The first thought I had was that Boston's Outer Island's allow camping. I went to double check that and I'm right. The site also listed your other alternatives, some of which looked very nice (but might be a tiny bit longer than 30 min depending on traffic--but some looked very interesting). But here's the link to poke through; http://www321.pair.com/oaries/localattit... And this one deals specifically with the Boston Harbor Islands and links to all DCR parks/facilities. http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/metrobosto... And this is a great resource of links to sites that either review MA camping sites or are about them (I notice one was a review of the Boston Harbor Outer Islands). Looks like some great poking info here; http://gonewengland.about.com/od/macampi... Others Normandy Farms in Foxboro is real nice but pricey. Myles Standish is nice- state park with camp sites might be a bit more than 30 mins but not by much- it's on the way to the cape so if you're going for the weekend plan on hitting some traffic - also check out Boston Harbor Islands- you take a ferry out- http://www.mass.gov/dcr/recreate/camping... No that close by. There are some youth hostels. there is one in Somervile but I wouldn't leave any valuables there |
