Travel Tips Haha, the Cheers bar isn't really authentic, it's a tourist trap and overpriced and nothing special. The show wasn't even filmed there, and it also wasn't even called Cheers before the show - they renamed it that after it became famous. Anyway, it depends on what kind of bar you're looking for. I always go to a small very local place called Woody's which is in the Fenway neighborhood, on Hemenway St. - although they only have beer and wine, no mixed drinks. They DO have a wood-fired brick pizza oven though and among the best pizza in the city though and it's a cool place to meet people and hang out. Many of the bars in Brighton Center are also really good. Others i went to Boston 6 yrs. ago about a month after graduation. my mom, sister and i went up to visit my uncle and aunt in ma. we went to Boston for the day. the coolest bar/restaurant was "cheers". yes there is an actual bar named cheers in boston. i'm sorry but cliff claven, sam and woody and the rest of the gang aren't there....their pictures are! me Hahahahaha trust me don't go to cheers thats a tourist nightmare. If you want authentic Boston you have to go to an Irish bar. Try the Purple Shamrock, the Black Rose, or J. J. Foley's I've lived in Boston all my life I have to agree with Mike R about Cheers. It's over priced, and not where you'd want to really spend time hanging out. It's cute to see if your a tourist for a few minutes, and then that's really it. Even then, I'd debate it! LOL. . . Anyhow, that having been said, I would suggest The Harp at North Station, or some of the bars in Allston area - The White Horse Tavern, etc. If you can find it....I'd check out the Living Room. Tis very chill. :) |
