36 hous in Boston, what should I do? |
Travel Info I will have 36 hous in Boston next week, mainly going to see the famous fireworks, but what else should I do? It will be mid-week, and I will prob. stay on Church Street in Everett, Massachusetts (Is that a good area to stay)? Any tips for a guy who lives history, nightlife, and parks? Travel Tips Faneuil Hall can get pretty hectic when there are lots of other tourists around. There is a Museum of Natural History at Harvard. There are some fun places to go out near Fenway Park (there's a deuling piano bar called Jack Ivory's on Landsdowne that can be fun) but since the T shuts down by 1 and there isn't a whole lot of cheap/free parking nearby that might not be the place to go if you aren't staying in the city. I also really like the Skywalk in the Prudential tower (360 view of the city). Its around $10 but I believe there is a discount if you go on a Duck Tour. Source(s): Lived in Boston for the past year Other Travel Tips don't go see the red sox. They will make you sick to your stomache. Walk....Boston is best seen on foot. Take the self-guided Freedom Trail tour and see all of the sites at your own speed. Harp's is a fun place at night. Everett is ok, but since you'll want to spend a lot of time in Boston try and find something there if you can. Around Faneuil Hall is best. http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/... http://www.harpboston.com/harpboston/... http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com/... You could walk around Quincy Market. I love going there. There is also the Freedom Trail that will take you to a lot of historical places such as Bunker Hill, The Old North Church, Fanieul Hall, and you can visit the Constitution. In addition you can see the Boston Common and of course there's Boston's famous ducks. If you choose the do the duck ride, it will basically take you to all the places that I previously listed. Well, I hope you have fun and enjoy the fireworks. I live in Kenmore Square - and although it is a bit nuts when the Sox are in town, it's also kinda exciting. The T (Subway) is a bit busy about an hour before the game starts and an hour after it's over. You can get a lot of places quickly via the Green Line which is nice. As for cheap Sox tickets, your best bet is probably trying to find someone with extras right near the park a few minutes after the game has started. |
