Going to Boston for the 1st time...? |
Travel Info I'll be in Boston for 2 days in August...never been there...anyone have any recommendations of what to see? I definitely wanna hit up Fenway Park...what else does Boston have? Travel Tips walk through allston, central square, the north end and the quincy market area for some good restaurants. take a walk along memorial drive on the cambridge side of the river for a breathtaking view of the boston skyline. go to the prudential tower to this lounge called the "Top of the Hub" for a cocktail and an amazing view of boston, the ocean, and the surrounding area. go to bunker hill for re-enactments of the revolutionary war battle there, and climb the 300 stairs to the top of the monument. walk around the south end, downtown crossing, and the back bay area for some good shopping. if you don't want to spend a lot of money the public garden and boston common are really nice in the summer, and you can walk to the nearby newbury street area for some window shopping and people watching. next to boston common is the theater district, where you can see a movie or play. if you want shopping malls, there are a bunch right off the subway - the cambridge mall is right next to the green line Lechemere stop, the Prudential Shops are off of the Prudential green line stop, and there's an area called "shopper's park" downtown off the Downtown Crossing Orange line stop. get off the Boylston green line stop and walk down boylston street or newbury street which are lined with stores like marshall's, Borders, etc. stay out of the roxbury and dorchester areas (which are south of the downtown part) because they're the most dangerous, most know for violent crime. don't waste your time going to the nearby beaches, because they're all dirty. you'd have to drive about 2 hours away from the city to get to a decent beach. Boston has some good clubs too depending on what you're interested in...at most subway stops they have free magazines, grab a "stuff at night" or an "improper bostonian" which list clubs and nightlife. hopefully this helps and you won't be bored. have fun! :-) Others Well I hope you have a great time in Boston. Lots of history! Aquarium, you can charter a boat that takes you out to see whales the migrate there(call ahead to see if it's time for the migration)! All the different types of buildings old and new styles)Fennigon Square. Has the "End of the Underground Railroad".!I would love to go again! Have a wonderful time!!!! A lot of rude people. Lots of things to see and lots of good food to eat. Do a little research on line to get ideas specific to your interests. The only advice I would give you is do not drive in Boston. Most scary place I have ever tried to drive in. Everybody tries to take their side out of the middle. Have fun. See the prudential towers, mit, harvard, and the science center. Fenway Park maybe the only place you CAN'T get into. Every single ticket has been sold for several years. But there usually are a few last minute returns, and also scalpers. |
