Fireworks in Boston..where can i see them with my dog?? |
Travel Info I am in Boston for the 4th and I have my small dog with me. I don't want to go the the huge festival at the Esplanade, but I would like to see my fireworks somewhere where my dog is actually allowed. Any suggestions? It can be anywhere, as long as I can see the fireworks! THANKS! Travel Tips I'd suggest viewing them from the Cambridge side of the Charles. There is grass and benches all along the river, and dogs walk there all the time. Plus it's a better view than the Boston side...less trees and you are look across at it. The best views are from MA Ave Bridge down, BUT I've watched it closer to BU bridge and it's an ok view from there. If your dog is sensitive to sounds that might work best as there aren't the loudspeakers down that far broadcasting the Pop's concert, as there are closer to Kendall Sq. But you know your dog and what would work. So based on all that I'd choose which ever area along the Charles that works for both of you. As for getting there, your 3 main choices are the Red line getting off at Kendall Square, the Green line getting off either at BU and heading across the BU bridge, or Arlington and Mass ave, but given the mess that will be on the Boston side, I would totally skip that option. The only caution I'd give is crowds are always looking up and walking into each other (ESP during the fireworks), so I'd just be careful since you say it's a small dog. I wouldn't trust the other guys to see her. Almost didn't say that, as I'm sure you would know that, but if you haven't dealt with that July 4th crowd you might give them too much credit lolol. Have fun!!! Just hope the weather cooperates!!! Others Your dog does not need to be near fireworks!!! Leave your dog in a safe place and hopefully not alone. According to the Suncoast Humane Society, the 5th of july is their busiest day because of the trauma to pets from fireworks. Dogs hearing is much more sensitive than ours, and fireworks loud popping sounds are agony for your dog. Consider asking your vet for some medicine to put them asleep for the evening of 4th. I beg you to stay indoors with your dog for fireworks. If you insist on venturing within hearing distance of any displays, keep your baby tightly on a leash. This is when they bolt! All pets should stay indoors during this stupid human tradition. |
