Does anyone work in Brighton? |
Travel Info If so, then how do you get there? By train, car, walk? Travel Tips This does not really answer your Q; but i hope it helps, I am lucky now that i can work from home most of the time, but still have to go to the office now and then which is in London. You dont say where you will be travelling from , but it takes me , ( I live in Dyke rd area) from my house to the office 1hr 25m. Now that's not bad. Others Lot's of people work in Brighton but I don't know how they get to work. i work in brighton and live here.. i have a car as its a 10 min drive to work Doh! I'm typing this while I'm at work in Brighton, I work in a travel shop which caters for commuters by Train, Bus and by Coach, in the Summer we tend to walk or 'bike it because most of Brighton isn't that far to travel to in hot weather, anyhoo... yes, people do work in Brighton, tho why is the question being asked? There are figures somewhere. 20% of people living in Brighton go to work by public transport, which is almost twice the number in other parts of Sussex. I think the figure of 48% travelling by car to work is very low and the normal figure in Sussex was 65%. Cycling will be about 3%. More people work outside of Brighton than in the town. There more workers than jobs. And lots of people live outside Brighton and work in the town. So every day over 50% of the workers actually leave town. If the Councillors know this, their policies are screwy, allowing more home to be built for incomers when there is a huge shortfall of jobs for the existing workers. No other large town or city in Britain suffers the same outflow of workers. Historical Atlas of Sussex and other references (1991 Census) Depends where you live but I would recommend the train. Don't actually work there myself but got a job there and checked it all out. Family lives there too. Parking is a nightmare - very expensive, and that's if you can find a space. The people at the place I was going to work drove if they didn't live near a station and parked about a 30-40 min walk from their work, just west of Hove where it was free. They said you could get a bus but it was about 拢2.50 or something so add that to the cost of travelling by car!! The train station is quite a walk from the town but only 10 mins or so so not a big deal. |
