Help! am taking teenage children to Brighton on Sunday? |
Travel Info Would really appreciate some idea's on what to do whilst there and some nice places to eat, which the kids would enjoy many thanks x Travel Tips If they're old enough not to mind wandering about, then go to the Lanes (the real, old winding ones that used to be the fisherman's cottages) and if any of you are after something a bit different, laid back and dare I say, hippy-ish, then try the North Laines (if you have a map, that would be Bond Street, Gardner Street, Kensington Gardens and Sydney Street). A previous poster mentioned Wai Kika Moo Kau restaurant. Unfortunately the proper restaurant has gone, though the cafe version in the North Laines is still there. There are stacks of eating places suitable for all ages. PLEASE don't resort to the hideousness that is McD!!! Brighton is the vegetarian capital of the UK, so if you're feeling adventurous try Food for Friends (note: Wai Kika Moo Kau is veggie too). Otherwise there are loads of Indian and Italian restaurants. Donatello's is a good, traditional Italian that now spans most of a block and covers I think 3 floors. So there's no problem getting a table regardless of how busy town gets. The Sea Life Centre is OK but not sure it would hold the attention for the money for teenagers. Depends entirely on their interests. If you have the whole day, then walk along the seafront to Hove. Really nice walk. If it's a lovely day, have a picnic on the beach or in a park. Fly a kite! It's Brighton after all! Do the tacky stuff, buy candy floss and chips on the seafront, play on the pier, stop for tea and cake somewhere. Enjoy! Others Teenagers will love the pier, the shops , macdonalds and pizza hut rubbish and I would also suggest going to the sea life centre Mc Donalds! How about just asking them? u dont seem to like kids very much. just ask them...im sure theyll tell u what they like. good luck Wow! Brighton - the land of the old and frail - they are going to love you immensely - I suppose you could hire a couple of bath chairs for them - Brighton is BORING - change your plans now - before they hate you forever! CLIVE the KNOW ALL - been to Brighton many times - BORING PLACE - had relatives there and the place is BORING - SO - if you don't know me or know what you are on about - be quiet - please!! My son hates the place and he is old enough to know - his words 'this place is a dive' - Take your kids somewhere else I have to visit Brighton twice per year and I really hate the town. Hotels are very expensive and parking is extortionate. Please do not take the children to McDonald's when there are numerous restaurants that cater for all manner of tastes. Not knowing your children's preferences, I suggest that you walk the roads down to the seafront and pick a restaurant yourself. PS I think that Jamand has never been to Brighton. Have a trundle around the Lanes, there is something there for everyone. I can recommend an eaterie there called "Whykikamoocow" Good value and lots of it. Have a nice time. There's some great rollercoasters, ghost train, dodgems, at the end of the pier. I love feeling like a kid again, and I'm 34! |
