Questions about Brisbane, Australia? |
Travel Info I'm moving to Brisbane in a few months and am not sure where I want to stay and plus I have some questions? 1. What would you recommend if you are wanting to live in the city? 2. Whats Woolloongabba like? What other towns are close to Woolloongabba? 3. What are the good towns of Brisbane that I should look into? (safety is very important but at the same time I wanna be at an exciting place) !! 4. Are trains convenient there or should I buy a car? 5. How's the wine in Queensland? 6. Are Cricket matches played in Brisbane? 7. Is there a Borders book store or any other big book stores? Okay, this is all I could think of for right now but I'm sure I'll post some more soon. Anyways, it would be great if you could tell me a little more about Brisbane. Thanks !! Travel Tips Brisbane is a great city, it's a changing and growing city. Woolloongabba (I'm impressed you can spell it) is a suburb about 4 kilometres from Brisbane city centre, it has a busway station (like a railway, but buses) and 2 railway stations within a ten minute walk. Brisbane is a generally safe city, as long as you have your wits about you. Common sense is always great. Woolloongabba is a very commercial suburb, more business and high density apartments. Many inner city suburbs are great places to live. Public transport is generally a good option in Brisbane, Buses, Trains and ferries run everyday at high frequencies. In Woolloongabba, there are over 10 bus services operating to various suburbs, and express services on the busway. Trains run every half hour from most stations, frequencies up to 15 minutes at stations where lines merge. Cityferries and City Cats run on the Brisbane River and are a great way to see some of the city. A car is generally not needed, unless you are travelling outside of normal hours. Queensland has a great wine industry, but not too many wineries close to Brisbane are well known. South West Queensland has a very large wine community, Warwick and Stanthorpe are also the coldest areas in the state of Queensland, about 190 ~ 225km from Brisbane respectivley. Cricket is played regularly in the city, international matches are played in at the Brisbane Cricket Ground or the 'Gabba (In Woolloongabba). Domestic matches are played at various locations including the 'Gabba. Borders' book shops are starting to appear in suburban shopping centres around the metropolitan area, including the city. There are many other large book shops. All in All, Brisbane is a great place to live and is growing and developing at great speed, some great projects are being put together, should change the city for the better.
