What would you suggest for a tourist in Brisbane?

Travel Info
My son, from Scotland, is arriving in Brisbane in Tuesday for two weeks.
Would very much appreciate it if someone could offer suggestions of things to see and do. He is a student so has a limited budget

Travel Tips
A few things for him to do:
1. Take a walk over to Southbank from the city (about a 20 minute walk).
2. Go to Australia Zoo (it's the zoo that Steve Irwin set up). I'm not sure of the website, but I'm sure they will have a coach pick up service from Brisbane city to take him. It's about a 1 hour drive there, and he will definitely want to be there all day to feed the kangaroos, see the crocodile shows.
3. He could go down to Surfers Paradise. He can get a train down there, or hire a car for the day. He could visit Dreamworld or MovieWorld (fun parks). They too probably have some sort of coach transfers from Brisbane, or if not from Brisbane, then from the train station in Surfers Paradise.
4. If your son is into live music, there are always some great bands playing in Fortitude Valley ("the valley"). He could get the bus to the Valley from the city (5 mins) and check out some of the shops and ask around to see what bands are on. There are free music newspapers that will tell him whats on.
5. If he likes sports, he should go and see a Brisbane Broncos Rugby League home game at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. The next one is on 25 June (that's if he is still here then?). He can get tickets on ticketek.com.au (search for sporting events in Brisbane). or he can just buy a ticket at the gate.
6. take a walk along Brisbane River promenade.
7. He can do a dusk canoe ride on the river.
8. He can climb the Storey Bridge (google bridge climb and storey bridge).
