What to do at Gold Coast Australia?

Travel Info
This question is to anyone who lives in Brisbane or has been to Brisbane.

I'll be going down to Gold Coast for 6D4N in about 2 weeks.

For the theme parks, I plan to go to Movie World only, noy really interested in the other 2.

So, can anybody suggest nice places that i can visit? Small shops that most people miss. "Must go" places, stuff like that.

I basically have 5 full days there. One will be for Movie World. So please suggest for the other 4.

Thanks loads people.

I live in the gold coast and I agree with your choice about the theme park. I think it is the best one - that or dream world. But you will have fun at movie world.

As for 'must see' places ... hmmm... Cavill Avenue is always good but that is where all the tourists are. Personally I think that rainbow bay is a nice area that hasn't been too commercialized and has a nice beach but I would say that down near Coolangatta is better.

Tambourine mountain up in the gold coast hinterland is really nice too - got lots of little shops and cafes. Very quaint. And if you go on certain days you can see the hang glides go off! I think you can even get lessons up there. It is also very green up there and there are some good nature walks to some waterfalls and so on.

The night life is pretty good - the casino is good if you are into that type of place. Broad beach has some really nice restaurants but a bit on the pricey side of things.

Pacific fair is the only place to go for shopping - big and a nice atmosphere. Actually harbour town or Australia fair are also good. The Carrara markets are really nice too - very very big. On par with the Eumundi markets on the sunshine coast. You can easily spend a half day there.

There is also some whale watching going on at the moment if you are in to that type of thing.

Also if you would like to get some deals go to an information place on Cavill Avenue - they have booklets of half price stuff and 10 percent off and all that. You can get some pretty good deals.

But seriously - it might not be the best time of year for this type of thing as it is getting a bit chilli but you just have to leave some time to chill on the beach!!! That is what the gold coast is all about.

Have fun! I am sure you will :-)

There is HEAPS to do and you won't have any trouble filling up your days and nights as long as your cash flow is healthy!

From para-sailing, snorkelling, kayaking to horseriding, theme parks and quad-biking.

A day cruise is nice if you like that sort of thing.
Take a trip to the top of the Q1 - largest residential building in Southern Hemishpere. Views amazing. Go to the hinterland and go for bush walks in O'Reily's, Binna Burra, Spring brook (pearling brook falls are good). See the waterfalls at the Natural bridge (aka arch) and see the glow worms at night, spend days at the beach ot Greenmount and Rainbow Bay (this is what the Gold Coast was originally like before all the development). Have coffee or lunch at the Palazzo Versace, or go to the cafes at Marina Mirage and check out the luxury cruisers and yachts;
I agree with the person before me. Accept for the fact that the Q1 is the SECOND tallest building in the southern hemisphere. Auckland sky tower still beats it by about 12m
