Holiday in Brisbane/Gold Coast this Nov (a good time?)? |
Travel Info I'm planning to travel to Brisbane/Gold Coast ard 10-24 Nov. Will this be a good time ? In terms of weather, crowd at the beach/tourist areas, night spots, shopping (when are the sales periods?). Would prefer an average crowd but not long queues/packed everywhere. Travel Tips November is the perfect time to come here (the Gold Coast - local my whole life). You won't get crowded out in November. Stay away from Surfers Paradise during schoolies!! Thousands upon thousands of hormones and drunk teenagers. But they seem to limit themselves only to Surfers Paradise and the beach infront of Caville Avenue and they don't get to the Gold Coast until the last day of your holiday anyway. You will be fine in Broadbeach (gorgeous uncrowded beaches) . Broadbeach is south of Surfers Paradise. It is where our shopping Mecca Pacific Fair is (corner of Nerang-Broadbeach Rd and Gold Coast Hwy). http://www.pacificfair.com.au/ It is also the trendy cafe hubb of the GC. There are heaps of newly built highrises too. They are gorgeous. There is The Waves: http://www.thewavesresort.com.au/... The Aria: http://www.ariabroadbeach.com.au/... Verve: http://www.vervebroadbeach.com.au/... And the Sofitel has been refurbished and has a monorail that takes you straight to Conrad Jupiters Casino which is open 24hours for dining and entertainment: http://www.sofitelgoldcoast.com.au... http://www.conrad.com.au/jupiters/new/... For outlet shopping, go to Harbour Town in Labrador (corner of Brisbane Road and Oxley Drive). It has great discounts on big labels. http://www.harbourtown.com.au/ November is the perfect time to be here as the weather is warm, but not yet scorching like Jan/Feb/March. It also has the lowest rainfall in the year (everyone gets married then). For dining, go to the funky Cafes and restaurants in the main strip of Broadbeach and in the Broadbeach mall. If you want to do things expensively, you can go to Main Beach, stay in the Versace, shop at Marina Mirage (Louis Vuitton, Escada - need I say more)..... They do have lovely cafes etc on the Marina there. http://www.marinamirage.com.au/... Theme park wise, see the Outback spectacular show. It's great and is right beside Movie World (acutally all the theme parks apart from Seaworld are right beside each other). I recommend Wet'n'Wild as the better water theme park as white water world is much smaller and has a limited number of rides. Sea World is great fun too. They have the new shark enclosure (you can pay to dive with them too, or just swim with the Dolphins). It's a really cool place. You'll have a blast!! Just take your SPF +40! Source(s): www.verygc.com Other Travel Tips I spent allot of November in Brisbane and traveling the Gold Coast - beautiful place, during November, a few years back. Go to Byron Bay, a tranquil small town, with a hippy feel and good beaches and surf too. Not too busy, but you're getting into summer time and some parts of the area are major tourist spots, so you'll see other travelers around you. That said, we got around fine and didn't find long queues, find places over-booked etc. Hi friend, I live in Gold coast, If you like to know something around here , don't hesitate email me, I will help you. This will be a good time to be here in Nov/ Dec. (Christmas season) great time to be here end of spring weather nice but not too hot crowds not to bad for shopping go DFO outlet on the coast have a good time November is fine. You will see queues at peak times, e.g., dinner at 8pm without a reservation at a decent restaurant will require a long wait. The weather is always good. No worries just go and enjoy...it is possibly the finest spot for a holiday. I would take a look at weather.com/vacation. They have average temps., local guides and even a tool to help you pack. It was a great tool for my trip to Ireland this spring. |
