Brisbane, perfect one day, living there the next? |
Travel Info Hi Yahoo Answerererersers! My husband and I are thinking of relocating to Brisbane or around the Queensland area which is suitable. Could people give us their opinions on what it is like up there. We currently live in Sydney, I work as a nurse in a Nursing Home and my husband is a school teacher in a High School. What is house affordability like and what are the "good areas" near the beach or close to a metropolis. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Travel Tips We have been holidaying in Queensland every year for over 20 years and we would prefer to live on the Sunshine Coast one day. Beaches are great and the lifestyle is more laid back. Surfers and the Gold Coast is too built up and crazy now. Others Brisbane is great...little slower than sydney it`s not a rush yet.It has great weather,,in summer prepare for extreme heat it get`s hot(like 40degrees).Housing near the city is round, next to a million or more, like Hamilton, clayfield all those.7mins from city.At the moment Banyo is the best looking round $350,000 and up...close to schools,uni,5mins from nudgee beach,5min from airport and 10minutes from city..but housing is just sky-rocketing up here,....Heaps of jobs..Brisbane is the fastest growing city in aussie at the moment.45min drive to the gold coast.....I live here and i am never moving...it`s awesome Great areas-Banyo,Hamilton,clayfield... Manly,Cleveland, Just outside of Brisbane-Redcliffe,Deception Bay,look on internet really good places.... there is no beach in brisbane - it's on the river. try redcliffe area or bribie island if you want a beach. Houses are very expensive in brisbane now. traffic is gridlocked & problems won't be solved in the near future. so find your jobs first then get a house within 20 min of your jobs. nursing homes/high school teacher - try redlands, sunshine coast, gold coast areas. why dont you like outside brisbane. What about cairns or townsville? I know it is not as busy as brisbane or sydney but we need alot of nurses up here. Not just in nursing homes either. If you live in Brisbane and you get a job on the northside and your husband gets a job on the southside where would you live. and if you get a night job would u really want to travel at night on the trains. So think about other options other that brisbane. My best suggestion would be for your husband to look into his teaching position first, because in the state system, it is super hard to get a teaching job in Bris, sunny or gold coast. Unless he teaches subjects which EQ is looking for. Unless he goes private or state with a contract. Also, the education system is different in QLD so it helps to do a little research.
