Travel Info Bad stuff about 'The Gold Coast' in Australia? Travel Tips Uncivilised australians who loiter around Surfers Paradise. And I can't understand why they walk around bare footed! Gold COast is one of the touristic place and wat a shame it is to spoilt the image of this place! Others Sharks. Poisonous sea snakes. Jelly fish Easy to get a sunburn. Very hot. Humid. Fruit Bats. High taxes. Poisonous snakes. Flies. Lots of tourists. On the other hand, lots of people like it (see reference). I almost moved there. http://www.reflections.com.au/goldcoast/... It's very commercial compared to the rest of Australia. I liked to call it "America-land", for obvious reasons. I saw a lot of the chain restaurants I have back home there, and the place felt a lot like Orlando. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about. Australia, outside of that "island", is very different and unique. The food isn't as good away from the Gold Coast, and it does get boring. Two words: Schoolies. Week. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT go to the Gold Coast in late November/early December. The place is overrun by 18-year-olds who have just finished their high school exams and are now legally allowed to drink. If you imagine how bad this could be, multiply it by 3 and add a couple of hundred used condoms and you've nearly envisioned the horror. Also, even at the best of times, the Gold Coast is very touristy and generally fairly tacky. |
