What are the most overrated places to visit in Queensland? |
Travel Info I think Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Frasier's Island top the list. For comparison, I liked Surfer's Paradise, the Glass House Mountains and the Outback. I didn't get to see Carnavron Park. Travel Tips I personally think Surfer's is terribly overrated - but it depends hugely on what you like. For example, I used to live in Brisbane, but i couldn't imagine what i'd do there as a tourist. Whereas Surfer's is just a tourist trap - if you want to go to a theme park, great, or, say, see a nice beach, ok, but be prepared to do it with thousands of other people. I love Fraser Island, but only on short trips away. If i was from, eg, the states, i can't imagine it would be too exciting. The sunshine coast is a more chilled version of the gold coast (surfer's paradise is in the middle of the gold coast). If you know where to go, the sunny coast is great. If you don't, it's just quiet beaches and not too exciting. Especially if you're expecting lots of overpriced places pandering to the tourist whim. The whole Cairns thing is a bit overrated for me too... Others i agree with charlie gold coast/surfers is too touristy now & overrated it make sence to give the Gold Coast a miss i disagree - fraser is fabulous, but i thin cairns is over rated Cairns. |
