Travel Info Does the tourist allowed to visit great barrier reef , is it affected by cyclone - are tourist allowed? Travel Tips Tourists most certainly can visit the Great Barrier Reef. You can do scuba dive charters, go snorkelling or just sightseeing, whatever you with. There are pontoons anchored at the outer reef and there are day trips out to them which include lunch and snorkel hire. Trips leave from Port Douglas, Cairns and Mission Beach. You can also take helicopter tours which land on the sand cays. The scuba charters are usually for 2 or 3 days and good to several different destinations. Whatever you choose you will not be disappointed. Although Cairns is in the sub tropics there are not that many cyclones, I have lived there for 20 years and only been affected by around 5 in that time. Happy travels Others if cyclones are about then all vistis to the reef are cancelled due to dangerous weather You can go to the reef... I live 10kms away from it and it didn't get damage from the cyclone... The tourist areas are all back to normal... So go there it beautiful as never... Have a good time.... Cheers... It'll take more than a cyclone to kill the reef. Tourists can go to the reef on charter boats, once ya in Cairns you'll see them advertised everywhere. if there is going to be a cyclone oviously they will cancel all the touring boats for the day or 2 days, but right now im pretty sure that the cyclone weather is starting to die down we're comming out of the cyclone time of the year You can go - tourists are welcome! |
