I have been there many times and I find it an okay city but it is not nearly as beautiful as Sydney or Perth. The Gold and Sunshine coast are not too far away so it is worthwhile travelling to see them as they are beautiful.

Just don't drink the local beer XXXX as you will regret it as only the locals can consume it without it doing strange things to their digestive systems. You will be sorry if you do.

Yep, stayed in my tent there whilst backpacking round. Nice place but Sydney and Melbourne are better.
Been to the Gold Coast, Airlie Beach, Rockhampton......the east coast basically, and was at Sydney Harbour on Millenium night. Fantastic place. I'm from England.

I am Australian.....

Brisbane is very boring..... the Gold Coast a city just south of Brisbane is great with heaps of theme parks and entertainment. The Gold Coast also has good shopping and beaches.... its kind of like Australia's attemp at Anaheim or Orlando.
