How much to visit the Great Barrier Reef from Caloundra? |
Travel Info How much to visit the Great Barrier Reef from Caloundra? Travel Tips your first problem is the first jum point to the GBR is bundaberg, around 3 hours north of caloundra. once your in bundaberg there are cruises that will take you to lady musgrave island which is fringed in reef. the cost for the cruise is 140 plus a 5 dollar reef tax. while you can snorkel etc here you will find the warmer areas, ie cairns, port douglas and townsville offer better fishlife and more vibrant corals. I hope this helps you Source(s): me- a queensland travel agent the last 9 years Other Travel Tips have you considered asking a travel agent? Pay whatever it takes, I was there a few months ago and its fantastic!! nothing if you make your own way there The Great Barrier Reef does not extend as far south as Caloundra. As a previous answer indicated, it extends only as far south as Bundaberg and even there it is very scrappy. I am not aware of any regular tours that have ever left for the reef from anywhere much south of Airlie Beach which would be about 12 hours on the road north of Caloundra. (I could be wrong, but I don't really think so). You will have to go a LOT further north. Former Queenslander. |
