Im visiting surfers paradise in November? |
Travel Info and was wondering if you could take your own beer onto the beach with you? Travel Tips No you can't. It's illegal to drink alcohol in a public place in QLD The Liquor Act 1992 bans the drinking of alcohol in a public place. This includes roads, footpaths, parks and beaches but does not include public places where alcohol is consumed at the consent of the owner, such as a BYO restaurant or places covered by a liquor licence or permit. You can be fined $75 under the Act for drinking in a public place or $225 if you are a minor (under 18). Police Officers and Liquor Licensing Investigators can also issue an 鈥榦n-the-spot鈥?fine of $75. Source(s): http://www.liquor.qld.gov.au/patrons/dri... http://www.liquor.qld.gov.au/about+us/th... Other Travel Tips nothings ever stopped me not at this time of year mate- schoolies down there and if you have alcohol the police which swarm over the place will confiscate it generally one at any other time of the year you can get away with... As with the response above - it is the riskiest time to take your own beer with schoolies. If you are going to take the risk, keep it covered with a paper bag or something. Just be extra careful, keep hydrated as well - the sun, surf and alcohol aren't a good mix - particularly if you are an inexperienced swimmer. DONT SWIM/GO INTo THE WATER if you have been drinking....please :) |
