Travel Info How is the food at the Riu in Cabo? Is it hard to get a chair by the pool? Can you swim in the ocean there? Travel Tips No, you cannot swim in the Sea of Cortez at RIU. The undertow is too strong. By beach it is about a 15 minute walk to the swimable part of Medano Beach. As with most AI resorts, you do need to reserve a chair if you want a specific location by the pool. The food is AI quality. Not sure if it answers that question but, for sure, it is not reflective of the great food all over Cabo in the restaurants. Many times, people look for an AI resort to save money. In Cabo, there's no need. You can eat every meal in town at any of the many, many restaurants for $6 pp or less. If you want the swimmable beach I'd give Pueblo Bonito Rose, Pueblo Bonito Blanco, Melia San Lucas or Cabo Villas a try. All are ON the swimmable beach and wonderful resorts with lots of chairs ;-). Then, you can choose from a huge assortment of American, Italian or Mexican restaurants to have your meals...go expensive or cheap...most all are pretty great. Check out some of the photos of Cabo.
