Below is the official answer from the government: December 31, 2006 - Requirement applied to all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. December 31, 2007 - Requirement extended to all land border crossings as well as air and sea travel. Others You do not NEED a passport to leave the country, but it is a good idea and will make entering and leaving the country easier. As of Jan. first I think you do. Call a travel agent and ask:) Not yet but as of 2007 you will. In the past you did not need a passport to go to Mexico, but the new law states that you must have one now. It is easy to apply for and recieve though. :-) not until jan. 2007. I just got back from a trip to Cancun in feb.All we needed was a drivers license,birth cert.and a marriage license. If you have a minor child and are not with the bio mom or dad you have to have a written permission from that other parent(if alive)even if your the custodial parent. by the end of 2006, passport required for all travel other than land travel to canada and mexico. by the end of 2007, required for that too. |
