I am going to Cabo San Lucas in a week. Am I going to get hurricaned on? |
Travel Info I will be there august 26-sept 3. I heard september is hurricane season, is it usually towards the beginning or the end of the month? Travel Tips So far, nothing is expected for the next 7 days. Hurricanes on the Pacific start in the Gulf of Tehuantepec (Oaxaca State), they start as Tropical depressions, then Tropical Storms and then Hurricanes. At the same time they develop, they move North. It will take from 5 to 7 days if the conditions are favorable to reach Cabo. And right now, nothing is forming in Tehuantepec. It's too full of drunk Americans. Better place to go is Puerto Vallarta. Better place, Better people, Better prices......Going to Cabo is like going to Disneyland. I totally disagree...Puerto Vallarta is as much of a tourist town as Cabo, but Cabo is a little smaller and more intimate...I got to Cabo twice a year and it's nice...the few bars I frequent, everyone remembers us...it's a nice touch...don't get me wrong, it's touristy...most resorts in Mexico are, but it's no better or worse than PV, Mazatlan, Cancun, ALcapulco, etc. www.allaboutcabo.com for some great information. Your question is regarding hurricanes......they don't usually get to Cabo or the Pacific side. They hit the east coasts and the Gulf. It would be very very unusual for one to hit Cabo any time of the year. They just don't happen there; and if they do, they are so mild you wouldn't know it other than for some rain one day. Have a good trip. No hurricanes in the forecast. However it usually rains only 7 days a year in Cabo...and those 7 are usually in September. |
