Could anyone tell me the best time and place to stay at the Sea of Cortez? |

I'd suggest going to Puerto Penasco. It's a very pretty area and the culture and people there are great. It's touristy but at the same time not over crouded like some of the more popular areas. They have a lot to offer though, restaruants, fishing, boat tours, snorkeling (check out Bird Island, it's one of the better places because there's a colony of sea lions there) and they have an outdoor market pretty close to the beach. It's a great place for couples because the mood there is very relaxed. If you're wanting to get in the water at all it would probably be better to go around September/or early October because the beaches arent as crowded and the summer can be pretty warm. (Still nice beach weather as far as I'm concerned.) Whenever I make the trip I stay at a resort called Las Palmas. They have towers with hotel-type rooms and they also have full houses that you can stay in. The houses are nice because they are closer to the beach. Either way though it is a very short walk. Hola! Hi! Your question is a little difficult to answer without further details (place to stay) such as if you plan to stay at a resort, hotel, camp, or go on an ecotour. The Sea of Cortez is incredibly huge, with many little towns all around it. My favorite is La Paz. Because its a city, but you can go off and in 15 minutes find a deserted beach. I also like it because there are tours that start off from there. There is a really cool camping experience on the Isla Esprito, this guy Andrea is your host and you live on the island in these tents and explore all around. The best time of year is Nov through May. I find the summer too hot, and then the hurricanes are an issue aug to october. Some of the activities are kayaking, boating, swimming, snorkeling, atving, diving, whale watching, hiking, etc. Cabo has year-round sunny weather except during the chabasco season which usually is September through November. During this time the weather in Cabo San Lucas can be chilly and there might even be hurricans and heavy storms. The best time to go is between January till July.
