Cabo San Lucas Vacation Ideas...? |
Travel Info Hi there!!! My boyfriends and I (of 4 years) are going on our first big vacation together. We are planning to go to Cabo San Lucas and have been researching. We have decided we want to do the all inclusive thing for sure. We have found a few places we are thinking about. Does anyone have a recommendation of somewhere all inclusive to stay that you have actually stayed at? Travel Tips I would go to the RIU Palace, it's close to downtown, the food is amazing, and the hotel is beautiful, some suites boast hydro-massage bathtubs and a jacuzzi on the terrace. The famous Archway in Cabo San Lucas is where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean, offering one of the best natural landscapes in Mexico, we go all the time!! This area, between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, lies on the tip of the Baja California peninsula. San Jose del Cabo, there are a wide variety of shops, restaurants, bars, discotheques, and hotels. Going land only is also good, but will cost more money as you will be paying for all your food and drinks, but it's a great way to experience all types of cuisine. Other favourites of ours in The Royal Solaris, Dreams and Melia Cabo. All these hotels I have stayed in and they are all wonderful, my fav of course is the RIU. Keep in mind when swimming for the most part, swimming on the Pacific can be dangerous. There are undertows, rip tides, and rogue waves. The Sea of Cortez has better choices, but still not all beaches are swimming beaches. Often the drop off is quite near the shoreline, and the water can get quite tricky. Also, as the hurricanes hit occasionally, the beaches are changed. Most of the large hotels have great pools and you can walk to a swimming beach from some of them. If you don't need a swimming beach, yet would like to walk the sand and not have vendors bothering you, look into Solmar/Playa Grande/Finisterra area. A short walk to town, great sunset watching-lovely places! Have fun! Others I've been twice to Cabos and stayed one time at the Fiesta Americana in San Jose del Cabo (All inclusive 3-star hotel). The second time I went with my wife and stayed at The Westin Regina (I think now called Westin Resort & Spa) located between San Jose and San Lucas and it wasn't an all-inclusive resort. I love Cabos and will continue to go for years to come... We are not the "all-inclusive" type of people because for one, we feel like from all the resorts we've stayed (in other destinations too) the food wasn't all that great. And the drinks were overrated, where they give you mix drinks or beer, but it's in small cups. In addition, we don't eat a whole and most importantly, we like to try out the different unique restaurants from the area and from the local hole in the walls; much of the food at the resorts have had the recipes altered to suit American and European tasting buds; I like to try the real deal. Also, we don't like to hang out at the beach in front of the resort, which is usually empty anyway cause many people tend to stay at the pool, so instead, we end up going to the public beaches anyway. To us, resorts are good when you're going to an area that you don't intend to go out and explore (such as Dominican Republic or Jamaica, too much poverty outside the resorts), but in Cabos... please, there is so much to do... so why even bother with the resorts? So in saying all that, by personal experience, we would rather recommend simply an upsacle hotel that is in Cabo San Lucas because that's where you will be spending most of your time at (all the action is there). It will save you from renting a car or using the bus/taxi to get around, as the corridor from San Jose to San Lucas is about 20 kilometers (+/-). Just my 2 cents.... =O) Hola! I have been in and out of the Los Cabos area for over 30 years now. I have made my way through all the resorts, the timeshares, the hotels, and the condos. I can make some recommendations for you as far as all-inclusive, but first I need to know what your price range is (want budget or 5 star), what you like to do (lay by the pool, or adventure outings), do you want to stay put at the resort the whole holiday, or do you want to sightsee? How long do you want to go? Do you need to swim in the ocean or are you happy with a pool? Are you wanting to be pampered (spa, service, suite staff). Without knowing any of that I can recommend the top all inclusives for the 3 areas of Los Cabos. They are: Corridor Resorts: Dreams Los Cabos 5 star Sol Melia Cabo Real 5 star Calinda Beach Resort 3 star Cabo San Lucas Resorts: RIU Palace 5 star Costa Real Resort (downtown) 4 star San Jose Del Cabo Resorts: President Intercontinental 4 star Royal Solaris Los Cabos 4 star Crowne Plaza (formerly Faro del Cabo) 4 star Grand Baja Resort & Spa 4 star I'll be there for a week starting saturday so i'll let you know |
