How many miles is it and hours from vernal, Utah to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico? |
Travel Info I need to know how many miles it takes to get from Vernal, Utah to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and how many hours that converts into...we are driving btw, so driving miles. Travel Tips I have driven the Mexican part of the trip a couple of times, and one of the map services (msn maps) actually gives the driving distances. It gives it as 1876 miles (dont take the ferry accross the sea of cortez it will be too long a wait). The driving time it lists is 26 hours,25 minutes. You should plan on a couple of hours for the border crossing as well, (insurance and other paperwork). As for the driving times their estimate seems a little fast but, I bet it could be done in about 30 hours on the road time, maybe slower if you are driving an RV. Minimize nightime driving in Baja California. In the desert right next to the road the extra rain runoff makes the grass grow faster, and therefore the cows graze right at the edge of the road. They are often out at night and are a big road hazard. Others I drive from British columbia Canada to the tip of the Baja and it takes me 5 days...only know the amount in Kms as canada/mexico are metric...sorry. I don't make very many stops, and of course it takes a while to process paperwork/insurance at the border. Like the other guy says, don't drive at night and keep to the main roads. Make sure you have extra gas and extra water, as well as a sound vehicle. There is a gov't service called the "green angels" guys in tow trucks that drive up and down the baja helping stranded motorists for free. This is very handy. I have had their help many times. Also, many roadside checkpoints with the federalies -- checking for illegal things. Respect is key here. You may choose to drive the mainland of Mexico and cross on the ferry to La paz from mazatlan, but I recommend driving the baja. It is very scenic and breathtaking. have a wonderful journey. |
